Dschump (according to the docs, it's pronounced "jump" and is sometimes simply referred to as Jump?) is an interesting action / planning game where you direct a bouncing ball as it progresses down the level path. The point of view is overhead, so you need to try to time your ball's bounces to collect bonuses and avoid obstacles. The screen scrolls up constantly so you need to plan ahead (using the map displayed on the right) and time your bounces properly. The graphics are pretty basic but get the job done.Dschump! is a classic DOS-based action puzzle game released in the early 1990s. The game features a unique mix of arcade action and strategic puzzle-solving, and is known for its quirky characters and mechanics. In Dschump!, the player controls a character navigating through levels, solving puzzles, and avoiding or dealing with various obstacles. Platformer Mechanics: Like many DOS-era games, Dschump! uses platforming mechanics where the player must jump between platforms, avoid obstacles, and reach the goal. Puzzle Elements: Along with platforming action, Dschump! introduces puzzle-solving elements where the player must figure out how to move through certain areas, interact with objects, and avoid hazards to advance. Challenging Levels: The game features multiple levels, each with its own set of challenges and enemies. The difficulty typically increases as the player progresses, with more complex puzzles and faster-paced action. Enemies and Hazards: Players encounter a variety of enemies and environmental hazards, such as spikes, moving platforms, or traps that must be avoided or neutralized. Power-ups and Items: Along the way, the player can collect power-ups and items that help them progress. These might include temporary boosts, health recovery items, or new abilities to overcome obstacles. Quirky Art and Sound: The game has a colorful and quirky visual style typical of early 90s DOS games. The characters and environments are often cartoonish and humorous. The sound effects and music contribute to the overall lighthearted atmosphere of the game. Simple Controls: Dschump! uses relatively simple controls for jumping, moving, and interacting with the environment. The player typically uses the keyboard for movement and actions, making the game easy to learn, but challenging to master.
