Description

Logger is a very simple text-mode game that plays a little bit like the classic arcade game Frogger. You have to zip between the top and bottom of the screen, collecting treasures and avoiding the horizontally-scrolling logs and other hazards. If you collect the minimum number for a level, you'll progress to the next. The game plays fluidly (for text-mode) and it's surprisingly enjoyable given how simple it is at its core. The story behind Logger is straightforward and simple: players control a lumberjack who is tasked with chopping down trees in a forest. The goal is to clear the trees efficiently while avoiding dangers such as falling logs, wild animals, and other obstacles. Each level introduces new challenges that force the player to think quickly and act strategically. Gameplay Mechanics Player Control: The player controls a lumberjack character who must move around the forest, cutting down trees. The lumberjack uses an axe to chop trees, and the primary objective is to chop down all trees in a given level. Chopping Trees: Players chop trees by pressing a button to swing the axe. Trees must be felled in a way that allows the player to clear a path through the level. The trees will fall in different directions based on where the player is standing, requiring strategic thinking. Obstacles and Hazards: As the player progresses through levels, different obstacles and hazards appear, such as falling logs, wild animals, or moving platforms. Players must avoid these dangers while still chopping down trees. Falling logs are a significant threat as they can crush the player if they’re not careful. Levels: The game includes a series of progressively more challenging levels. Each level contains a specific number of trees that need to be chopped down, and the difficulty increases as the levels progress. New challenges, such as more aggressive animals or tricky tree arrangements, are introduced as players advance. Power-ups and Items: Players can collect power-ups and special items that give them advantages, such as extra speed, temporary invincibility, or an extended axe range, making it easier to chop down trees and avoid enemies. Time Limit: Some levels feature a time limit that challenges the player to chop down all the trees before time runs out. This adds an element of urgency and forces players to think fast while dealing with obstacles. Lives and Scoring: Players begin with a set number of lives. If the lumberjack is hit by a falling log or other hazards, they lose a life. The goal is to complete each level without running out of lives. Points are earned by chopping trees, avoiding hazards, and completing levels quickly. High scores are tracked, adding replay value.
